The Bible is very clear that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and that you should honor God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Self-starvation, induced vomiting, and gluttony are direct violations of that commandment. Yet knowing that these behaviors are sin should not bring condemnation, but hope! You should be encouraged by the promise that Jesus died for your sins so that you may live free from all bondage. Th e fact that Jesus died for your freedom is evidence that freedom does exist!
You can go from treatment center to treatment center and excel at the ability to “cope” with an eating disorder, or you can pursue the promise of transformation through Jesus Christ. You can continue living as a victim to your diagnosis, or you can choose to believe what God says about freedom: “Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

| What Are Eating Disorders? |
|
| When a very thin movie star dominates the screen, it’s not uncommon to hear “Whoa! She definitely has an eating disorder!” being murmured throughout the audience.
Eating disorder is a label that is easily slapped on anyone today who looks the least bit unhealthy. But an eating disorder goes far beyond your physical appearance.
In fact, you might be struggling with a severe eating disorder that is causing permanent damage to your internal organs, yet never appear sick or underweight.
